Born in Dublin, Ingoldsby became a well-known figure in 1980s, due in no small part to his RTÉ children's television programmes Pat's Hat and Pat's Chat. He has written plays both for the stage and for radio and was a regular contributor to the Evening Press in the 1990s. His radio plays include The Dark Days of Denny Lacey, Fire is Far Enough and Liffey Ever Is, all broadcast on RTÉ. Ingoldsby is best known as a poet and observer of contmeporary Dublin life. He lives in Clontarf.
