    While working in London during the blitz, Peter Burns, as a result of a near death experience during a bombing raid, has been transformed from an irreligious libertine and drunkard to a religious fanatic. When he returns to the family home in rural southwest Ireland, his newfound spirituality does not lie easy with any of the family.
