The General Post Office, Dublin, 1916.
The rebel leadership navigates the perils of the Rising across the five days during which they occupied the GPO. On Monday, they seize and secure the building, and repel the first attacks. On Tuesday, they attempt to deal with looting on O'Connell St. On Wednesday, the shelling starts. On Thursday, the building goes on fire. On Friday, they are forced to evacuate. People buckle under pressure. Tensions run high. They constantly have to revise their plans and expectations.
