Carter and Charlene O'Donaghue are an American couple who run a 'retreat' house aimed to promote understanding in the divided community of Northern Ireland. Their mid-Atlantic brand of peace, love and harmony is an unlikely antidote to the problems of five women at the retreat for a weekend: the women contend with this imposition and with the unwelcome attentions of the media and a paramilitary group.
