A shorter version of this play was commissioned by Camden Borough Council for performance in community centres in 1985. It was rewritten and expanded for full production in Belfast in 1986 as listed.
Three women at different times in the 20th century - Agnes the weaver's wife in 1912, Mary the post WWII widow and Sharon, the policeman's wife in 1985 - are all forced by different circumstances to emigrate to England.
