The action takes place in Ireland's Glorious Past.
A young girl is to be auctioned with the consent of Dublin Castle. During the auction she is rescued by men in trenchcoats and goes on the run. She meets a poet and agrees to marry him, but a young priest objects and exiles them both to a life on the run, where they become Emer and Cuchulainn, Diarmuid and Grainne before returning to their contemporary selves.
