Hugh Hunt Frank O'Connor
Dublin, 1882
Based on the events surrounding the assassinations of the Chief Secretary Lord Cavendish and the Permanent Under Secretary Mr. Thomas Burke in Phoenix Park in 1882 by two members of the extremist organisation the Irish National Invincibles. Tim Kelly and Joe Brady had chosen Burke as he was perceived a traitor to Ireland, a Castle Catholic. Cavendish was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. The leader of the Invincibles James Carey testified against his men and they were both hanged.
