  • Synopsis

Séamus and Colm are good friends but they find themselves on different sides during the Civil War. Séamus is an officer in the Free State Army. We meet the wives of the two men and Eibhlín, Colm’s wife, is worried that something awful is about to happen to Colm because of an incident that happened during the Black & Tan occupation. In the end Colm is killed on the roof of his own house as he lays in ambush – it is Séamus who kills him. This was the first play in Irish which attempted to describe the Civil War. However, the location was changed to Warsaw when it was first produced.
