OVERVIEW

  • Description

CallBack theatre was founded in 2001 by Cora Fenton and John Sheehy. Since its inception, CallBack has produced and toured all over the country at festivals and venues with a number of plays.

CallBack is now primarily focusing on producing and touring new work written by John Sheehy.

John works extensively as a writer and director and is co-founder of CallBack theatre. John’s first two plays were the critically acclaimed Set in Stone and Fred & Alice.

CallBack was awarded a Touring and Dissemination of Work Grant by the Arts Council for Fred & Alice. The tour took place between March and June 2014. Fred & Alice then transferred to the Oran Mor, Glasgow, Scotland where it played to packed houses and received a 5 star review from The Herald Scotland. Further national and international touring is currently being planned for Fred & Alice for 2015.

John received a Theatre Artist in Residence Award at Friars’ Gate Theatre in 2013 from the Arts Council during which he wrote The Hole (premiering Spring 2015). He has recently been awarded a second year as Artist in Residence at Friars’ Gate Theatre during which he will be writing a new play Dog Shit City.
