PATRICK MCCABE

1955 -

Patrick McCabe was born in Clones, Co Monaghan. His novels include The Dead School, The Butcher Boy, and Breakfast on Pluto, the latter two being nominated for the Booker Prize, in 1992 and 1998 respectively. McCabe's 2006 novel, Winterwood, was named the Hughes & Hughes/ Irish Independent Irish Novel of the Year in 2007. He has also published two collections of short stories, Mondo Desperado and Emerald Gems of Ireland. The film of The Butcher Boy, co-written with Neil Jordan, was produced in 1998; the IFTA-winning Breakfast on Pluto, also co-written with Jordan, was released in 2005.
