Eamon Kelly was born in County Kerry. An actor and storyteller, he joined the RTÉ players in 1952 and performed in his own storytelling shows on stage, radio and television for many years. As an actor, he worked extensively with both the Gate and Abbey Theatres in Dublin and was nominated for a Tony award for his role in Brian Friel's Philadelphia, Here I Come.
