Gerry Dukes was born in Dublin in 1946. Upon graduating from University College Dublin in 1970, he taught literary criticism in Dublin, Belfast and Limerick. He has lectured on Samuel Beckett for many years and was director of the Belltable Beckett Seminars in Limerick in 1983-84.
