Kathleen O'Brennan

1870? - 1948

A sister-in-law of the executed 1916 signatory Éamon Ceannt, Kathleen (Kit) O'Brennan was a well-known journalist, lecturer, feminist campaigner and writer. Born in Dublin to a nationalist family, O'Brennan was appointed Dublin correspondant of the London Times and was later a regular contrbutor to the Irish Times and the Irish Tatler. Her play 'Full Measure' was premiered in the Abbey Theatre in 1928. In later life she acted as secretary to the Irish PEN club, and her extensive personal papers are currently held in the National Library of Ireland.
