Set in Paris, Montreal, Rome, Turin, New York, Rio and the Manaus, Double Helix tells the story of five Irish characters adrift and dislocated in a fast changing world. A euro-hopping dilettante discovers within himself the horrifying germ of Huntington's syndrome just as his girlfriend becomes pregnant. A diabetic actor stumbles through life in New York while a Warholian artist wanders the world taking photographs. Five different storylines weave in and out of issues such as genetic inheritance, environmental influence and national origin.
