Paul Vincent Carroll
The Scene is laid in the dining-room of Canon Skerritt's Parochial House in Ardmahone, one of the small towns lying round the feet of the Mourne hills in County Louth, Ireland. It is February.
Programme note: The Legend connected with St. Brigid relates how in order to escape the attentions of persistant suitors, she disfigured the loveliness of her face at Faughart, her birthplace, near Dundalk.
A play exploring how the established Church has, like every institution, moved away from its founding beliefs. This spiritual decline is highlighted when presented in contrast to the purity of faith practised by a young girl.
