Siobhán McKenna

1923 - 1986

Siobhán McKenna was born in Belfast but raised in Monaghan and Galway. She made her stage debut in Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe in 1940. She is well known as an actress in the Abbey Theatre though she has worked in TV and film. She also adapted Cúirt an Mheán Oíche (The Midnight Court) by Brian Merriman for the stage in 1984, and it was the first time an Irish language version of the poem was staged.
